Ukraine: onion prices down to last year’s levels

Onion prices have been going down in Ukraine and already reached last year’s levels, according to Fruit-Inform.

They have decreased by another 15% since the beginning of this week. Now growers from the southern regions are ready to sell their onions at UAH 2.30-3.00/kg (EUR 0.07-0.10/kg). Meanwhile, prices in some regions are fixed at UAH 3.50/kg (EUR 0.11/kg). However, sales at those prices are reported rarely.

Growers are forced to reduce their prices due to abundant supply of onions in the Ukrainian market, as growers go on their harvesting campaign.
