Ukraine: banana prices reach record high
Banana prices keep on climbing in the Ukrainian market. According to Fruit-Inform daily monitoring data, these fruits in Ukraine have become 6-9% more expensive since the beginning of the week.
Now traders maintain their prices at UAH 35-38/kg (EUR 0.99-1.07/kg), while a week before maximum prices for bananas did not exceed UAH 36/kg (EUR 1.02/kg).
Market players link such a rise in price with smaller shipments of bananas to Ukraine, as well as unstable currency market.
It is also worth mentioning that banana prices have marked a rise of 70%-80% against the second half of January 2017.
