Kazakhstan's apple imports up

According to the official statistical data, Kazakhstan imported record high 15,000 tonnes of apples in February this year, an increase of almost 50% year-on-year. For comparison, the country imported just 10,000 tonnes of apples in February 2012.

Kazakhstan's cumulative apple imports over the first 8 months of the current season went up by 23% year-on-year to 87,000 tonnes. Furthermore, imports over the period from July 2012 to February 2013 turned out to be record high in the past 5 years.

Kyrgyzstan, Poland and China were the main exporters of apples to Kazakhstan.
