Vegetable planting will soon be finished in Poltava oblast

According to information provided to "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal by the specialists of Poltava office, Agricultural Marketing Project, the majority of the regional producers have planted cucumber in the period May 15th to May 19th. Being planted earlier, cucumbers have already come up on some farms. However, Oleg Smolka, the Agronomist of Poltava AMP office, points out that earlier cucumber plants usually come up thinned, with low germinating force, as the crop was planted into insufficiently warm soil.

Onion and carrot seedlings are in good condition. The specialist also mentions active growth of weeds because of warm weather. So, the farmers should have herbicides prepared to control weeds.

By this moment late cabbage varieties and tomatoes have been already planted in the oblast.
