Prices for carrots and beets in Ukraine are as before much lower than last year

According to Fruit-Inform Project, notwithstanding price growth for potatoes, cabbages, and onions in comparison with last year, prices for carrots and beets are as before much lower than in 2010. Wholesale prices for carrots are 30% lower than in the same period of last year, prices for beets – 20% lower.

Nevertheless, fixed level of prices enables farmers to have solid profits from growing of these vegetables. Besides this, carrots and beets are in high demand in the Russian market where prices for them are averagely 2-2.5 times higher. So Ukraine keeps on exporting carrots and beets to the Russian Federation.

Already now farmers producing these vegetables plan their activities for the following year; and seeds of the most prospective varieties and hybrids are already sold, according to seed breeding companies. What should producers expect from the new season? What prices will carrots and beets, as well as potatoes and other vegetables have in the season 2011/12?

These and many other questions will be discussed during the third international conference “Potato and Vegetables of Ukraine-2011”.

This event is to take place at Shuvar wholesale market, Lvov, Ukraine, February 24-25, 2011. On-line registration is available through this link.
