Ukrainian fruit and vegetable processors hoping for cheap raw produce in the new season

Fruit and vegetable processing enterprises hope prices for fruits, berries, and vegetables to be more tolerable for them this year.

Last year purchase of raw produce was perhaps the most serious problem for enterprises. Prices for all range of produce were at quite high levels during procurement season. The situation was especially complicated for fruit and berry processors. Many enterprises work at partial capacity, and some of them have not utilized even a half of their processing potential.

Upcoming season promises to be rather difficult for processors. Sharp growth of prices for gas, electricity, glass jars, and lids have considerably increased production costs. So enterprises set their hopes on this year's harvest to be higher in volume to some extent enabling them to keep prices for finished products at competitive level.

Analysts of Fruit-Inform Project are now actively working on the fundamental study “Fruit and Vegetable Market of Ukraine-2011: Fundamental Investigation of the Season's Results and Forecasts for the Following Season”, which will include the most probable scenario of the fruit, berry, and vegetable market developments in the new season.
