Ukraine will set a new record in sweet cherry exports in 2011

In the current year Ukraine has a chance to set a new record in sweet cherry exports to Russia. This was said by Tetiana Getman, editor-in-chief of Fruit-Inform Project, during her speech at the Second International Conference-Exhibition “Berries of Ukraine-2011: Freezing and Fresh Market”. She noted that Ukrainian sweet cherry exports to the Russian market increased 2.5 times in 2010. Taking into account quite good prospects of the current season's sweet cherry harvest in Ukraine and stably high demand for this crop in the Russian market, we may assume that sweet cherry exports will again grow in 2011. Last year's successful experience in this sphere led to a number of those who are interested in sweet cherry exportation to Russia to increase significantly. And this also favors development of international trade in this crop.
