Ukraine able to become the second largest exporter of tomato paste to Russia
According to Fruit-Inform Project, Ukraine literally burst into the group of Russia's three largest suppliers of tomato paste in the past 2 years notwithstanding previously not being even among 15 largest suppliers.
Over the past 18 months, Ukraine has been confidently holding its position in the Russian market for tomato paste and outstripping such countries as Turkey, Italy, Iran, Spain, Uzbekistan and Greece. Ukraine is inferior only to China and Portugal with China's share varying within 60-70% in Russia's total imports of this product.
“We expect Ukraine to become the second largest exporter of tomato paste to the Russian market in 2011 and outstrip Portugal for the first time ever”, Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform Project, says. “It will be possible thanks to the season being rather favorable for processors and further dynamic development of vegetable growing and processing technologies in Ukraine”, the expert adds.
We would remind you that all leading representatives of the Ukrainian fresh produce business (producers, wholesalers, importers, exporters, retailers etc.) are meeting at Fresh Produce Ukraine 2011 Fair which will take place at IEC (the most up-to-date exhibition center of Ukraine in Kiev), from November 30 to December 2, 2011. The fair will also be a place for the Eighth International Conference “Fruits & Vegetables of Ukraine – 2011. New Exporter”.
