White cabbages 10-fold less expensive year-on-year in Ukraine
White cabbage prices fell to the record low level in Ukraine in November this year. As of November 11, 2011, farms offered their produce at UAH 0.30-0.50/kg (EUR 0.03-0.05/kg), while in the same month of last year minimum prices had already reached UAH 3.00-3.30/kg (EUR 0.28-0.30/kg). Moreover, according to Fruit-Inform, last week some farms from the western regions of Ukraine were ready to sell their white cabbages at UAH 0.20/kg (EUR 0.02/kg), however even such offers were not in high demand.
The last time when the same difficulties were observed with the white cabbage sales in autumn was the year 2008, although, in that period of time, minimum prices were not lower than UAH 0.40/kg (EUR 0.04/kg).
Will white cabbage prices go up in the second half of the season? How will the situation in the market develop in the season 2012/13? These and many other questions will be answered at the Eighth International Conference “Fruits & Vegetables of Ukraine – 2011. New Exporter”.
