Court started hearing Kozachenko case
According to a TV programme in a Ukrainian national channel, Pechersk District Court of Kiev has started hearing of the criminal case against Ukraine's ex-Deputy Prime Minister for Agriculture Leonid Kozachenko.
The court has satisfied the appeal of the lawyers to admit journalists to the courtroom for coverage of the proceedings.
As it was informed earlier, the Prosecutor's General Office completed investigation of the criminal case against L. Kozachenko in early September. The defendant was accused of office abuse, promotion of grain exports from the country at underrated prices, deliberate non-organisation of mortgage purchases of grain and getting a bribe in the time of his directorship of Ukragrobusiness company.
L. Kozachenko and his lawyers consider the accusations of the Prosecutor's Office to be groundless.
The now accused ex-official held the position of Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for Agrarian Policy since June 2001 till November 2002.
