Twofold decrease in cucumber prices in Ukraine last week

Last week, cucumber prices reached UAH 22-26/kg (EUR 2.16-2.55/kg) in Ukraine that is almost half as much as during the New Year holidays. A sharp shortage of cucumber supply during the peak of buying craze led to cucumber prices to have beaten all records: smooth cucumbers increased in price to UAH 35-40/kg (EUR 3.43-3.92/kg), prices for bumpy cucumbers shot up to UAH 50/kg (EUR 4.90/kg). Moreover, even small wholesale lots of cucumbers could be hardly purchased at such prices.
