Moldova stopped exports of maize and sunseeds
Moldovan government has recently suspended exports of maize and sunflower seeds until the new crop, web-server Reporter.md has informed with reference to sources in agriculture ministry.
The export of sunseeds has been suspended with the aim of provision of local crushing plants with raw material. Also, the export of maize has been stopped because local hog-breeding farms appeared at risk of running out of feeds.
In January and February 2004 the export of sunseeds from the country made 18,200 tonnes, which is six times more than the export in the same months last year; the export of maize - 10,400 tonnes, which is by 3,000 tonnes less than in January and February 2003.
