Fruits and vegetables start growing in price in Ukraine

Fruit-Inform's fresh produce index shows that fruits and vegetables grew in price by 1.6% in Ukraine last week. Nevertheless, the main fresh produce categories were as before significantly less expensive year-on-year.

Greenhouse tomatoes having become 10% more expensive were the main reason for an increase in fruit and vegetable prices last week. Prices of traditional vegetables (onions, white cabbages, red beets, carrots) and potatoes were stable, while fruits fell in price in Ukraine last week”, Mrs. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform, says.

It should be noted that last year's vegetables are still in rather significant supply and compete with early produce in the Ukrainian market”, Mrs. Getman continues.

The strawberry and sweet cherry seasons are coming to their end in Ukraine. However, the sour cherry season only starts.

We remind you that more information about current developments and future prospects in the Ukrainian and Russian fruit and vegetable markets is available for subscribers of Fruit-Inform Weekly service package.
