Seasonal decrease in fruit and vegetable prices starts in Ukraine
Fruit-Inform's fresh produce index shows that seasonal factors led to 4.3% decrease in fruit and vegetable prices in Ukraine last week.
“The largest contribution to a decrease in prices was made by early vegetables and potatoes. Greenhouse vegetables contributed too, as they continued to become less expensive”, Mrs. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform, says. “At the same time, fruit prices slightly grew, as the season of sweet cherries, strawberries and even sour cherries is coming to an end, while the season of peaches and apricots has only started”, the expert continues.
Last year's vegetables and potatoes still were in the supply in market last week with their prices being not revised. However, consumers have significantly lowered their interest to that category, as prices of early vegetables were relatively low.
