Apple juice concentrate starts growing in price in EU
Apple juice concentrate (AJC) has started increasing in price in the EU market. Prices have grown to 1,550 euro/tonne since late August. According to Foodnews, for comparison, in the mid-August, prices were about 1,500 euro/tonne. Higher prices are a result of relatively low supply of AJC in the EU: last year's stocks are almost exhausted, while new AJC production may be lower in view of smaller apple harvest in many EU countries.
At the same time, according to Fruit-Inform, AJC producers in Ukraine still prefer not to hurry with their policy. Prices of AJC made of apples of new harvest have not been fixed yet: local producers wait till prices will be fixed in China and Poland. However, processing enterprises are rather optimistic, as prices of apples for processing have been decreasing in Ukraine, therefore expectations of high demand for AJC in the EU enables Ukrainian processors to hope for high profits.
