Moldova's apple exports to Russia record high in March

According to Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation, in March 2013 Russia doubled imports of Moldovan apples year-on-year to record high 9,500 tonnes.

On the other hand, Russia's cumulative imports of apples from Moldova over the first 9 months of the season 2012/13 went down by 14% to 159,000 tonnes against 184,000 tonnes in the same period of the previous season.

Despite lower exports, Moldova still ranks second in apple exports to Russia and is behind only Poland.

We would remind you that detailed statistical data on Russian and Ukrainian fruit and vegetable imports in the past 3 years as well as largest importers' contacts and other valuable market information are available in the informational product Russia & Ukraine: Fruit and Vegetable Business Yearbook 2012.
