Poland: short supply of early white cabbage and broccoli
The Polish vegetable market has been characterized by short supply of early white cabbage and broccoli in the past few days.
Due to bad weather conditions affecting growth of early white cabbages, their supply is so low that some companies have even stopped purchasing after facing troubles with finding necessary volumes for wholesale buyers.
Such a situation immediately led to a significant growth in purchase prices of early white cabbage: up to 0.70-0.82 euro/kg, and even 0.94 euro/kg in the small-scale wholesale sector.
The Polish domestic broccoli season has already started a week ago; however, the broccoli supply still is limited in the country due to bad weather conditions.
Current Polish growers' broccoli prices vary between 0.58-0.93 euro per piece.
Broccoli shortage cannot be compensated even by imports, as the Spanish broccoli market is also characterized by limited supply and high prices.
