Ukraine: table beet prices significantly higher year-on-year
According to Fruit-Inform, wholesale prices of table beets in the Ukrainian market are now averagely 4-5 times higher year-on-year due to different market conditions. In 2012, the previous year's crop was still available in the market, while the supply of early produce seriously prevailed over the demand.
In the end of last week Ukrainian vegetable growers offered early table beets at UAH 4-7/kg (EUR 0.39-0.68/kg), while a year earlier prices varied between UAH 0.70-1.50/kg (EUR 0.07-0.14/kg). In connection with rainy weather, table beet prices grew by 20-30% in the middle of this week, an increase which, however, was of temporary character.
