Belarus ranks fourth in Ukraine's potato exports
According to Fruit-Inform, Belarus was the fourth largest importer of Ukrainian potatoes in the season 2012/13. For the first time over the past few years, Ukrainian exporters shipped both early and late potatoes to Belarus thanks to relatively low prices in the internal market.
At the same time, early potatoes being exported in May-July still accounted for the largest share in Ukraine's potato exports to Belarus thanks to earlier start of the season in Ukraine.
However, Fruit-Inform analysts expect a decrease in early potato exports both to Belarus and Russia in new season due to lower production in Ukraine and higher prices. Furthermore, Ukrainian growers kept on exporting last year's potatoes in May 2013 due to still large stocks and lower demand in the internal market.
