PepsiCo, Inc. : New line in Russia doubles production of savory products
According to 4-traders.com, PepsiCo Russia opens two new production lines at its Azov snacks plant in the Rostov region.
The increase in capacity will help PepsiCo meet the country's growing consumer demand for its savory products, doubling the site's annual production of Lay's, Hrusteam and Cheetos brands to manufacture more than 500 million snacks in 2014.
To meet the demand as a result of the expansion, PepsiCo is increasing its investment in its Potato Supplier Resource Programme. The programme helps Russian potato suppliers to improve the quality and yield of their crops and is part of PepsiCo's global strategy to source more products locally.
The Azov snack plant currently produces more than 35 kinds of Lay's potato chips, 13 varieties of Hrusteam baked breads and nine different types of Cheetos corn snacks.
