Further increase in Ukrainian fresh produce price index

Fruit-Inform's Ukrainian fresh produce price index went up by 11% in the week from November 30 to December 6. In such a way, fruits and vegetables have averagely become 27.1% more expensive over the past three weeks. Furthermore, the price index is two and a half times as high as registered in the same period of the previous season.

“A rapid increase in prices of potatoes and onions has been the main reason for ongoing growth in the fresh produce price index over the past three weeks”, says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. “Rise in prices of greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes should also be noted. In addition, their prices may keep on growing due to close New Year holidays in Ukraine”.

At the same time, fruit prices have been stable in the country and are averagely 20% lower year-on-year.

We would remind you that more information about current developments and future prospects in the Ukrainian and Russian fruit and vegetable markets is available for subscribers of Fruit-Inform Weekly service package.
