Kiev, Ukraine: onion prices down

Fruit-Inform price monitoring shows a significant week-on-week fall in onion prices quoted at Stolychnyi Wholesale Market, Kiev, Ukraine.

Current prices offered by Stolychnyi wholesale traders vary between 0.47-0.48 euro/kg, a decrease of 15% from the price levels registered in the middle of the previous week. At the same time, current prices are still 4 times of those registered a year before.

A fall in prices at Stolychnyi Wholesale Market is connected with less active demand for onions in Ukraine and lower prices offered by growers. For the present, Ukrainian farms are ready to ship onions at 0.44 euro/kg, which is, nevertheless, one of the highest level in Europe.

We would remind you that more detailed information about the current state and future developments in the Ukrainian and Russian market for potatoes and vegetables will be presented at the 6th International Conference “Potatoes & Vegetables of Ukraine-2014”, which will be held on February 20, 2014, President Hotel, Kiev, Ukraine.
