Poland: apples of smaller sizes in higher demand
In view of a decrease in the Russian rouble to US dollar exchange rate, prices of imported fruits and vegetables (inclusive of Polish origin) may grow in the Russian Federation. As a result, it will be more difficult for Polish companies to compete with domestic produce in Russia. Taking that into account, Polish exporters now prefer to purchase less expensive apples of smaller size instead of sizes 70+ and 80+.
For the present, apples from CA-storage are shipped at 0.17-0.20 euro/kg (size 65+) and 0.15-0.16 euro/kg (size 60+).
