Ukraine: Crimea loses almost full apricot crop due to cold spell
On the night of April 2nd/3rd temperature in Crimean regions went down to 10 degrees below zero leading to catastrophic damages to the apricot sector in the peninsula.
Mr. Nikolay Polyushkin, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Crimea, says that losses of apricot, peach and cherry plum crops reach 100% in some farms. According to him, the most significant damages were reported by Crimean Fruit Company that had lost about 98% of its apricot crop.
We would remind you that Fruit-Inform has already said that Crimea had practically lost its sweet cherry crop. More information about those factors' impact on the Ukrainian fruit and berry sector will be presented at the 5th International Conference “Berries of Ukraine-2014: Frozen Produce & Fresh Market” which is to take place on May 22-23, 2014, Feride Plaza, Vinnytsia, Ukraine.
