Still low demand for apples in Ukraine
The Ukrainian market participants say of still low demand for apples in the country.
For the present, buyers prefer high-quality apples, while trade in second- and third-grade produce is rather moderate.
Under those conditions, Ukrainian growers do not revise prices despite a seasonal decrease in apple supply. Apples from CA-storage are offered at UAH 7-9/kg (EUR 0.49-0.54/kg). Produce from unequipped storage facilities are shipped at UAH 4-6/kg (EUR 0.24-0.36/kg), and growers often make price concessions to sell their stocks as soon as possible.
We would remind you that prices in April 2013 were averagely 20% higher than today.
