Ukraine: citrus prices up in Simferopol, Crimea
According to Fruit-Inform daily price monitoring, citrus prices have significantly grown at Krymskiy Privoz Wholesale Market, Simferopol, Crimea, Ukraine, over a week.
The least considerable increase in prices was registered in the lemon segment. Current prices of lemons vary between UAH 27.50-28.50/kg (EUR 1.64-1.70/kg), an increase of 12-15% week-on-week. Compared with the previous year, prices became 70% higher.
Meanwhile, oranges became 25-30% more expensive week-on-week and now their prices vary between UAH 16-17/kg (EUR 0.96-1.02/kg), an increase of 50% compared with the same period of the previous year.
Mandarin prices grew by 40% compared with the previous week, and now sellers in Simferopol offer mandarins at UAH 27-28/kg (EUR 1.61-1.67/kg), an increase of 80% year-on-year.
Growth in citrus prices is connected with the devaluation of the Ukrainian hryvnia. In addition, active citrus season has almost come to an end in Ukraine with citrus fruits to be soon replaced by berries and other seasonal fruits.
