Ukraine: further decrease in fresh produce price index
Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index went down by 5% in the week from May 17th to 23rd. Thus, the price index has already become 20.6% lower over the past 5 weeks.
“The price index traditionally decreased thanks to lower prices of greenhouse vegetables. Prices of traditional vegetables and potatoes again started slightly going down”, says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. “Fruits also became less expensive last week thanks to lower prices of early berries”.
Strawberry prices fell by 60%. Sales of sweet cherries also were more active; however, their prices were still relatively high. Nevertheless, the market analysts expect a fall in them already in the following week.
