Further decrease in Ukrainian fresh produce price index
Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index went down by 9.6% in the week from July 26th to August 1st. Thus, a cumulative decrease in the price index stood at 57% over the past 5 weeks.
«Last week a decrease in prices was registered in all fresh produce segments: traditional vegetables, potatoes, greenhouse vegetables, seasonal field-grown vegetables and fruits», says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. «Fruits became averagely 12.2% less expensive, prices of seasonal and greenhouse vegetables fell by 11.3%, potato prices decreased by 7.3%, and prices of traditional vegetables went down by 5.6%».
It should be noted that fruits are still 20-50% more expensive year-on-year despite an ongoing decrease in them. At the same time, potatoes and traditional vegetables are 30-40% less expensive compared with the same period of the previous year. Prices of greenhouse and seasonal vegetables changed slightly year-on-year.
