Polish plum production down in 2013/14
Polish plum production went down in the season 2013/14 compared with the previous year.
According to the official statistics, Polish growers harvested about 101,000 tons of plums in the previous season, a decrease of 4% compared with a season before, when Polish plum production had reached 103,000 tons, the largest result over the past 4 years.
A decrease in production of plums was connected with lower areas under this crop in Poland, which went down by 6% in the season 2013/14. At the same time, Polish growers' average yields grew by 5% year-on-year and were the highest over the past 4 seasons.
