Poland: continuous decrease in onion prices
According to Fruit-Inform, onion prices have been going down at Polish wholesale markets.
Onions have become 11-13% less expensive since the previous week at Bronisze Wholesale Market, and now sellers offer their produce at 0.07-0.09 euro/kg. It should also be noted that prices were 40% higher in the same period of the previous season.
Negative price performance is connected with currently abundant supply of onions in Poland. Furthermore, Polish onion production is expected to increase by 4% year-on-year. Meanwhile, Russia's ban on imports from the EU has not affected the Polish onion sector so far. First large volumes of Polish onions were traditionally shipped to Russia in January, and exports peaked in February-March.
