Ukrainian fresh produce price index sharply up in early October
Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index went up by 8.5% in the week from September 27th to October 3rd due to higher prices of greenhouse and seasonal vegetables as well as a slight increase in fruit prices.
«The price growth accelerated in the segments of cucumbers and tomatoes due to lower temperature and rainy weather in the southern regions, and a decrease in prices of traditional vegetables and potatoes was not able to compensate it”, says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform.
Onion prices went down by 6.7% last week. Carrots became 1.6% more expensive. Potato prices decreased by 5.6% due to excessive supply in the market.
The fresh fruit price index went up by 2.4% thanks to an increase in prices of apples and bananas (most popular fruit categories in Ukraine now).
