Ukrainian fresh produce price index up last week

Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index went up by 7.2% in the week from October 24th to 31st, after a fall of 8.4% registered a week before as a result of the ban on imports of Ukrainian crops in Russia.

«An increase in the fresh produce price index was provoked by higher prices of potatoes, which are still an important category in the consumer basket», says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. «Growth in cucumber prices compensated by a further decrease in prices of tomatoes should also be noted».

Prices of onions, carrots and table beets slightly went up last week. Meanwhile, fruit prices were stable thanks to stabilization in the Ukrainian hryvnia exchange rates.
