Russia: pear imports down in September
Russia's pear imports went down by a third in September 2014 compared with the same month of the previous year.
The import volumes stood at just 14,000 tons against 21,000 tons in September 2013.
China was the main exporter of pears to the Russian Federation with the share of slightly lower than 25% in Russia's total imports. Argentina accounted for 14%, and Turkey was the third largest exporter with the share of 11%. It should be noted that the EU countries accounted for 76% of Russia's total pear imports in September 2013.
Russia's cumulative imports of pears over the period from July to September 2014 totaled 42,000 tons, a decrease of 13% year-on-year.
