China's apple exports to Russia down

China keeps on reducing apple exports to Russia. The Russian Federation imported just 38,800 tons of Chinese apples in July-November 2014, a decrease of 3% compared with the same period of the previous season.

Furthermore, a negative trend in Chinese apple exports to Russia has been observed for already six years. For example, the export volumes have more than halved since 2007.

The sector participants connect falling exports with Chinese apples being gradually ousted from the Russian market by less expensive produce from other countries: Poland and Moldova in the previous years and Serbia in the current season.
