Polish plum production up
Polish plum production was the highest over the past 5 years and reached 107,000 tons in 2014 thanks to new orchards coming into bearing, according to the Central Statistical Office of Poland (GUS). In September 2013, GUS officers expected the production volumes to reach 109,000 tons; however, unfavorable weather conditions led to a small decrease in final figures.
It should also be noted that Polish growers were unsatisfied with the season's results despite high production: the quality of grown plums was not high, which resulted in lower sales for exports, as exporters' requirements were rather tough.
