Ukraine: mandarin prices 2.5 times as high as last year

Current prices of mandarins in Ukraine are 2.5 times as high as registered in the same period of the previous season and the highest over the whole history of independent Ukraine, according to Fruit-Inform price monitoring.

For the present, importers are ready to ship mandarins at UAH 27-33/kg (EUR 0.76-0.93/kg), while a year before prices did not exceed UAH 10-15/kg (EUR 0.28-0.42/kg).

A significant decrease in the mandarin supply in Ukraine should also be noted. Large importers reduced their purchase volumes in view of extremely low demand and wholesale companies and retail chains' high arrears of payments. Many small companies decided to stop importing mandarins in this season at all due to instability in the Ukrainian foreign exchange market.
