Ukraine: fresh produce price index up last week
Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index went up by 16.5% in the week from April 4th to 10th, after an increase of 9.4% a week before.
«As a week before, an increase in prices was registered in all fresh produce segments, except potatoes», says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. «Thanks to an increase of 33% in prices, the largest contribution to growth in the price index was made by greenhouse vegetables».
Traditional vegetables became 11% more expensive as a result of higher prices of white cabbage, onions and carrots. At the same time, potato prices kept on decreasing, went down by 9.1% week-on-week and reached UAH 2/kg (EUR 0.08/kg) in the western regions of Ukraine.
Fruits became averagely 4% more expensive thanks to an increase in prices of almost all categories.
