Ukraine: imports of Polish apples grow more than sixfold
Poland has increased apple exports to Ukraine more than sixfold since the beginning of the current season.
According to the official statistics, Poland exported 25,000 tons of apples to Ukraine in July 2014 – February 2015 against just 4,000 tons in the same period of the previous season.
Moreover, Poland traditionally led in apple exports to Ukraine and accounted for the share of more than 80% in Ukraine's total imports over that period.
Current prices of Polish apples vary between UAH 12.50-13.50/kg (EUR 0.45-0.49/kg) in Ukraine. The market analysts expect them to go up in the nearest time as duty-free trade in apples has terminated in Ukraine since April.
