Ukraine: strawberry prices sharply up at wholesale markets
Sellers at Ukrainian wholesale markets were rapidly raising strawberry prices closer to the past weekend, according to Fruit-Inform daily price monitoring.
Prices have grown by 15-20% over a week at Shuvar Wholesale Market, Lviv, and sellers were ready to ship strawberries at UAH 12-18/kg (EUR 0.49-0.73/kg), depending on quality, averagely 50% higher year-on-year.
Prices have also risen by 20-25% at Stolychnyi Wholesale Market, Kiev, and Ozerka Wholesale Market, Dnipropetrovsk, and reached UAH 17-25/kg (EUR 0.69-1.02/kg). However, the price levels have not changed on a year-on-year basis.
The sharpest jump in prices was registered at Kopani Wholesale Market, Kherson Oblast: up by 40% to UAH 15-20/kg (EUR 0.61-0.82/kg), an increase of 20% year-on-year.
Positive price trend was registered in the Ukrainian strawberry market thanks to high demand for Ukrainian produce in Russia in view of shortage of supply of high-quality berries there.
