Ukrainian fresh produce price index does not change week-on-week
Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index has not changed over the past week (June 6th-12th), after a fall of 30% over the previous two weeks. Despite stable cumulative price index, the Ukrainian fresh produce market was characterized by significant price fluctuations in different segments.
«Prices of traditional vegetables have grown by a third week-on-week due to more expensive early white cabbage and lack of high-quality carrots in the market», says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. «Nevertheless, taking into account relatively small share of those vegetables in current consumption structure, growth in their prices was almost fully compensated by a fall of 15.3% in prices of greenhouse vegetables».
The Ukrainian fresh fruit price index also slightly went up due to an increase in prices of strawberries, which was unusual for that period of time (as a rule, prices previously reached their minimal levels). However, an increase in the demand for Ukrainian strawberries in Russia has resulted in a rise of a third in their prices.
