Ukrainian farms start 2015 raspberry campaign
Ukrainian growers have started raspberry harvesting this week, according to Fruit-Inform.
Due to cold weather, the season has started averagely a week later than usual, and current prices are a third lower year-on-year. Now growers ship raspberries at UAH 30-40/kg (EUR 1.17-1.56/kg), while in the beginning of the previous season prices varied between UAH 35-60/kg (EUR 1.14-2.43/kg). A year-on-year fall in prices is connected with higher yields of new raspberry plantations in Ukraine. Fruit-Inform estimates Ukrainian commercial farms' raspberry yields to grow by at least 7% in 2015, and total production is expected to rise by 4-5%.
