Ukrainian growers start currant season
Ukrainian commercial growers have started sales of redcurrants and blackcurrants this week, according to Fruit-Inform.
Despite long spring, there was no delay in the start of the season, but first volumes of currants are offered at prices 10-15% lower year-on-year. Fruit-Inform analysts also expect average price of currants to be lower compared with the previous season due to higher yields in Ukraine registered in view of new plantations coming into bearing.
For comparison, now growers offer currants at UAH 18-25/kg (EUR 0.71-0.99/kg), while a year ago first volumes were shipped at UAH 20-30/kg (EUR 1.23-1.85/kg).
