Ukrainian fresh produce price index slightly down last week

Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index has decreased just by 2.5% in the week from August 1st to 7th, after a decline of a third in July. Nevertheless, the price index kept on going down despite an inter-season period in some fruit and vegetable segments.

«Growers are now finishing their harvesting campaign of some early and middle-season varieties, which might result in a temporary increase in their prices», says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. «A seasonal increase in prices was registered in the cucumber and apple segments last week; however, those jumps were compensated by lower prices of other products».

The sharpest decrease in prices was registered in the segment of traditional vegetables: down by 5.1%. Greenhouse vegetables have become 4.4% less expensive. Fruit prices went down by 1.4%.
