Russia: plum prices in southern regions twice as high as last year
Farms' prices of plums in the southern regions of Russia are averagely twice as high as in the same period of the previous season and keep on growing.
Growers are now ready to ship their produce at RUB 40-50/kg (USD 0.53-0.66/kg), depending on quality and variety, against no higher than RUB 45/kg (USD 0.59/kg) a week before.
Farmers have been raising their prices thanks to rather high demand for plums in Russia. Moreover, prices are also supported by rather limited supply of produce in the market. The majority of growers have already finished their sales of middle-season varieties, while active sales of late ones will be registered at least in early September.
