Ukraine: fresh produce price index sharply down
Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index has fallen by 12.3% in the week from August 29th to September 4th, after three weeks of growth. As a result, a last week's decrease has fully compensated a rise in August.
«Thanks to a fall of 50% in prices, cucumbers made the largest contribution to a decrease in the fresh produce price index», says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. «Less significant falls in prices were also registered in the segment of white cabbage and onions».
In general, traditional vegetables became 7.4% less expensive, after an increase of 12% a week before. Prices of seasonal vegetables fell by a third week-on-week. At the same time, the fresh fruit price index went up by 0.6% thanks to an increase in grape prices.
