Prices of traditional vegetables in Ukraine twice as high as in Russia
Prices of Ukrainian traditional vegetables are now 2-2.5 times as high as in Russia, according to Fruit-Inform. The most significant difference in prices is registered now in the onion segment: Ukrainian onions are 2.5 times more expensive than Russian ones.
Prices of carrots and white cabbage are twice as high, and red beet prices are 50% higher in Ukraine. At the same time, prices of potatoes are almost similar in Russia and Ukraine.
It should be noted that the situation was quite the opposite in the past year. According to Fruit-Inform, prices of traditional vegetables in Russia were at least twice as high as in Ukraine. Thanks to such a high difference in prices, Ukraine managed to export record high volumes of traditional vegetables to Russia through Crimea. Ukrainian growers had no problems in raising prices in winter-spring thanks to stable export demand.
