Russia leads in apple production growth rates among CIS countries

In addition to being the largest apple production country in the CIS, the Russian Federation remains the leader in apple production growth rates in that region, according to Fruit-Inform.

According to the official statistical data, Russian apple production has grown by 45% over the past 5 years. For comparison, Ukrainian apple production has gone up by just 25% over the same period.

Uzbekistan has also been actively increasing its apple production, which has grown by 35% over the past 5 years.

The lowest production growth rates are registered in Azerbaijan: up by 15% in the previous 5 years.

In general, apple production has been growing in almost all CIS countries. According to Fruit-Inform estimates, those countries will harvest at least 5.5 mln tons of apples in 2015, an increase of 60% over the past 5 years.
