Idared becomes leading apple variety in Russia
Idared variety has been actively gaining its popularity among Russian apple growers, according to the results of the fundamental study «Apple Business in Ukraine, Russia & Kazakhstan — 2015: Present Situation and Prospects in Growing, Storage, Handling, Processing and Marketing».
Fruit-Inform estimates the share of Idared variety to reach 12% in Russian total apple production in 2015 against just 7% in 2012.
«It is no wonder that Russian growers stake on Idared, as it is this variety that has been the leader in apple sales in Russia in the past years», analysts comment.
Thanks to an increase in production volumes, Idared has become the most popular apple variety in Russia against ranking just fourth three years ago, when Antonovka, Zhygulevskoye and Bogatyr had been the top three most grown varieties in the Russian Federation.
