Ukrainian fresh produce price index down for the second week in a row
Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index has decreased by 4.6% in the week from December 5th to 11th, after a decline of 4.2% a week before. As a result, the price index as of the end of the first week of December 2015 is 3.7% lower compared with the end of October 2015.
«The price index went down due to two factors: a significant influence of Turkish suppliers of greenhouse vegetables switching over to Ukraine and a gradual decrease in prices of traditional vegetables», says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. «At the same time, fruit prices are stable in the majority of cases».
As a result, traditional vegetables became 6% less expensive last week thanks to a decrease in prices of all categories except red beets. Potato prices went down by 5.7%, and the most significant decrease was registered in onion prices: -7.7% week-on-week.
