Poland offers least expensive apples in Eastern Europe
Apple prices in Poland are now the lowest in Eastern Europe, according to Fruit-Inform price monitoring.
Now Polish growers ship their apples at 0.15-0.31 euro/kg. For comparison, prices vary between 0.21-0.41 euro/kg in Ukraine, Russian growers offer their apples at 0.52-0.82 euro/kg, and prices in Moldova and Belarus stand at 0.28 euro/kg and higher.
Such low prices levels are connected with Polish exporters' weak demand for apples. At the same time, growers hope for an increase in exports in the nearest time (as a year before), which will enable them to raise prices. We would remind you that apple prices doubled in Poland in the period from February 2015 to the end of the previous season thanks to more active shipments for export.
It should also be noted that current prices of apples are averagely a third higher in Poland year-on-year due to lower production of these fruits in the country and other EU states. For comparison, prices varied between 0.09-0.25 euro/kg in the end of January 2015.
